12th Annual Soil, Plant, and Organic Methods Course

Hello! Our twelfth annual “Soil Course” is open for registration!

If you are a long-time grower interested in the principles behind your success in the field or garden, a first-time grower curious about how to best manage your land, or a veteran growing facing the same confounding issues year after year than this class is for you.

The twelfth annual (2023) spring course for farmers, gardeners, and others interested in the world of soil and plant health and function. Virtual two-day, four-class course offered online March 25th and 26th 2023.

Two classes per day, begins at 1pm each day. 30 minute break between classes. Each class is 1.5 to 2 hours in length.

This course covers foundational and current soil science, crop science, and soil maintenance principles with a focus on organic/regenerative/sustainable farming methodology.

Classes are led by Big Train Farm owner/manager John Kenny. John has over 20 years of experience as an organic farmer as well as an academic background in biology and chemistry. John approaches this course with a farmer to farmer/gardener focus. All though the course is science-heavy it will be presented in familiar context and analogy.
