Abode Farm, New Lebanon, NY -- Full and part time positions

Abode Farm is looking for full-time and part-time employees to join our farm crew!

Abode Farm is a diversified, NOFA-NY certified organic vegetable farm located in New Lebanon, New York just over the Massachusetts border. Our amazing 5-8 member farm crew (and 2 farm dogs!) works together to provide accessible local food throughout the region. We work with draft horses and tractors on 20 acres to supply fresh produce to our 180+ CSA members, three farmers markets, schools, food pantries, restaurants, and distributors. Our farm leases land from a spiritual retreat center and a residential high school, and we work in close partnership with the Mount Lebanon Artist Residency, so (in non-pandemic times), we are often interacting with and working alongside students, artists, and the public. We also work with a local farm-based youth development program. Check out our website for more info (http://www.abodefarm.com).

Full-time Farm Crew Member

We’re looking for a new full time farmer to assist in all aspects of growing including greenhouse propagation, weeding, harvesting, cultivating, distribution, and marketing our produce.

Schedule & Compensation

Length: May - November (option to start earlier and/or continue later in the season)

Compensation: $14/hr, plus vegetables and a discount on our farm store items.

We work 7:30am-5pm Monday through Friday, with an hour-long paid lunch break. CSA harvest days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Someone who’s interested in working weekend markets is a plus! In which case your weekly schedule would be adjusted. We run our CSA through the winter and participate in winter farmers markets, so there’s an opportunity for year-around work. We do need someone who can commit through November, as we do our large root harvests in late October/early November.

Job Requirements

  • At least one full season of vegetable farming experience at a scale of 3+ acres
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Punctuality and flexibility to shift schedule when the need arises
  • Willingness to ask for help when needed
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Good communication skills; comfortable sharing and receiving feedback
  • Enjoy being part of a team and interacting with others (including potential volunteers) throughout the work day
  • Drivers license and any experience with tractors is a plus!
