Borders Farm is a historic property in Foster RI, the farm is open to the public offering hiking trails and picnic areas. We raise beef cattle and harvest 50 acres of dry hay. The farm participates in NRCS grants, ongoing projects include pasture renovation, invasive plant removal, and forest stand improvement.

We are hiring a part time farm hand position for the 2023 growing season, approximately 20 hours per week May through October.
The farm hand will work in part with the farm manager and independently, tasks will include management of beef cattle in a rotational grazing system, hay production, landscaping around a historic farmhouse and picnic areas, and invasive plant and brush removal.
The ideal candidate will have studied or worked in agriculture or land management. Applicants must be comfortable around tractors, cattle, thorny plants. Applicants should have a drivers license, experience or willingness to learn operation of tractors and hay implements, experience or willingness to learn to use a zero turn lawn mower and handheld power equipment, interest in livestock production, interest in plant identification.
Borders Farm hosts a group of volunteers who manage projects such as a food bank garden or public hiking trails, the farm hand may be asked to assist volunteers in various projects.
The work schedule can be flexible, it will be determined and agreed upon by the farm manager and farm hand.
Compensation starts at $13/hour but will be determined by experience.
