Discovery Topic: to learn what encourages the increase of chiggers --season after season-- that populate fields & gardens & woods. The acreage of woods also include wetlands and a pond, with the pond having become more of a glorified swamp over the years). Not certain if the rodent and/or deer population encourage the expansive growth of chiggers (??) and/or if there might be an underlying ecosystem imbalance that requires awareness & remediation (??) However, we and the abutting neighbors are commenting that the chiggers seem to be worsening with each season; with many more of us experiencing over-the-top amount of bites & inflammation that require at least up to 3-weeks-plus to remedy & resolve. These chigger events & issues have been experienced while gardening, mowing, pruning, landscaping, dog-walking, and/or hiking; and have become more of a concern than the tick concerns.
