Hi Everyone!
My name is Annie Bayer and I’m a small scale grower based out of Smithfield RI. I know a lot of us have trouble navigating the off seasons financial limbo. So, I wanted to start a discussion board about winter jobs other farmers are getting into and if anyone has any leads on places that hire for winter seasonal help (work from home or in person)
~What do other folks do for winter work?
~Self employed? Or Working for some body else?
~Do you take it off? How financially stable do you feel by the end of winter?
Another reason why I’m posting this is because I am getting my second ankle surgery that is going to keep me off my feet from November until the beginning of February. I worked for Farm Fresh last winter, but am unable to be on my feet in a substantial way till February. I’m crafty, good with my hands, a tinkerer and have a passion for working with native plants and planning out landscapes. I can do computer work but am really trying to avoid that.
I’m hoping folks can use this platform to start spit balling ideas for everyone.
