I am a farmer and farmer advocate conducting a feasibility study on providing better access to health insurance for farmers and farm workers. This project arose out of a farmer working group convened by Ocean Hour Farm in Newport RI.
I am hoping to include case studies from farms (or farm adjacent organizations) who have experience with providing Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement (QSEHRA) benefits to employees, or a monthly taxable health care stipend, or some other kind of support. Your experience does not need to be positive; I am trying to present an accurate picture of the current health care benefit solutions that are accessible to farms and farmers.
This feasibility study is mainly focused on Rhode Island, but there is a lot of overlap in our communities, and my hope is that the results will be informative across the region.
