Farm to School Educator

Job Summary:

Farm Fresh Rhode Island seeks an outgoing and energetic Farm to School Educator with demonstrated initiative and educational skills to develop and deliver after school and Farm to School programming. The educator will implement and continuously improve Farm Fresh RI’s after school and summer programs. Additionally, the Educator will support community partnerships around the state to deliver food literacy and food systems education. This position offers unique opportunities to support programming through curriculum improvement, run a summer program, and advance Farm Fresh’s Farm to School service-based learning initiatives.

Associate level positions are also expected to engage and assist with other Farm Fresh programs as appropriate to build strong cross-departmental programming.

Essential Duties:

Program Specific Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans, materials, and food for scheduled programs; including, creation and of materials by purchasing, creating, printing, and/or cooking
  • Deliver quality programs to a variety of age ranges, ability levels, and knowledge levels
  • Ensure programs are properly tracked in dedicated systems
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of the after school, in school, and summer programs
  • Manage volunteer relationships and coordinate their attendance in Farm to School programs
  • Manage program materials/supplies, including inventory and purchasing
  • Assist in coordinating with community partners for local food field trips
  • Engage families and the larger community at partner schools
  • Assist with other Farm Fresh programs as needed
  • Contribute to the RI Farm and Sea to School Network’s event planning as needed

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Must uphold Farm Fresh RI Supervisor Standards in accordance with Tier 1.
  • Must be able to build relationships with people from varied cultural, economic, educational, racial, and religious backgrounds
  • Must be able to collaborate and work on cross-program & departmental teams and efforts
  • Must maintain a customer service orientation while considering solutions and interacting with external partners

Priority Skills:
Candidates with any of the following skills will be prioritized:
● Spanish speaking or non-English language skills
● Formal or informal education experience, especially in nutrition, schools, or food systems
● Deep understanding of communities in Providence, Pawtucket,

Location and Time:

The position is based at 10 Sims Avenue, Providence, RI. The majority of the job is in-person with flexibility for remote work as appropriate. It is a full time, non-exempt position dedicated to supporting our food literary programing both in and after school.

Salary and Benefits:

● Compensation is $20-23/hour depending on experience
