Dahlia dig and fall cleanup crew
Part-time, temporary (with option for work next season)
$15-18/hour (depending on experience + dahlia tubers if desired)
About the farm: The Daisy Edition is a small, woman-owned farm in Newport County, RI. We grow a diverse variety of specialty cut flowers and culinary herbs at Island Community Farm in Middletown, a project of Aquidneck Community Table. You can find our flowers through our CSA share, Farmer’s Market, or at one of our store partners. We host Pick Your Own days and Workshops on the farm during the summer.
About the Role: We are seeking a positive and hard working team member to assist with digging our dahlia tubers and putting our field to sleep for the winter.
The job involves a lot of digging, kneeling, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly. Conditions are likely to be cold, dirty, and wet at times. That said, we highly value ergonomics, proper hydration, and taking breaks as needed. It will be very fun and rewarding, but also require mental and physical stamina.
This is a part time, temporary position. You must be able to get yourself to our field in Middletown RI on workdays. Desired schedule is Monday/Tuesday/Friday from 9-12 but can be negotiable for the right person. Start date can be immediate and the tasks are expected to wrap up by early/mid November.
For the right candidate, there will be an opportunity to work with us next season (starting in February). We are planning to hire for a more extensive role next year and this is a great opportunity to get to know us and learn if our farm would be a good fit for you.
