Full-time Position

Estate Manager needed to maintain a large family estate year-round. This full-time position is an ideal long-term opportunity for a family. Located in New Marlborough, Massachusetts, the property is a large family compound containing several family houses and a 3-BR estate manager’s house with its own garden. This former dairy farm also includes barns and outbuildings, fenced pastures, fruit trees, woodlands, trails, and a large pond. Primary equipment includes pick-up truck, UTV, tractors and mowers.

Salary depends on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Some benefits available according to the candidate’s needs. Potential to keep own livestock.

Responsibilities

Maintain the entire property in the best possible condition, which includes:

Farm and land maintenance (60%)

  • Maintaining lawns around houses and buildings
  • Keeping all driveway and trails in good condition (plowing snow, clearing fallen trees, etc.)
  • Operating and maintaining small machinery and other equipment
  • Making minor repairs as necessary, getting supplies, etc.
  • Monitoring the property’s infrastructure (structural, electric, plumbing, septic, generators)

Management of family residences (25%)

  • Monitoring family houses to ensure all are functioning properly
  • Making repairs as necessary, taking trash/recycling to the transfer station weekly

Supervision of outside vendors and service providers (10%)

  • Contacting and managing regular vendors, contractors and others needed at the property

Communications with owner/family members (5%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with a desire to achieve excellence in tasks large and small
  • The ability to work outdoors in all seasons with a deep respect for nature
  • Operate and maintain a wide variety of equipment and machinery
  • Spot opportunities to work in ways that are safer, more efficient or more cost-effective
  • This is often physical work, so the ability to lift and/or move heavy objects is important
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to work legally in the United States.
