About the Organization
The Friends of Holly Hill Farm, Inc. is a nonprofit, educational farm that grows and sells certified organic vegetables, herbs and flowers in coastal Cohasset, MA, 20 miles south of Boston. Growing takes place on 2 of our 5 acres, utilizing 3 high tunnels and 2 caterpillar tunnels for year-round production. Sales take place at our historic barn farm stand, farmers market and online for pickup at the farm. The Spring Plant Sale is a major source of our annual revenue. Our education department depends upon the farm providing seedlings for school gardens and our onsite education garden. The Farm Managers must make decisions that uphold the mission of the Friends Holly Hill Farm including but not limited to a commitment to regenerative no-till agriculture, our community and our environment.
We are looking for TWO FARM MANAGERS.
- Farm Manager for Field Operations
- Farm Manager for Sales and Greenhouse Operations
The Co-Farm Managers’ major responsibility is all aspects of the farm’s certified organic vegetable, herb and flower growing and sales operations. Management of full and part time staff includes the recruitment, training, and supervision of seasonal and year-round employees. The Farm Manager is responsible for working with the Education staff to provide seedlings and activities that coordinate with the seasonal programs on and off the farm. The farmhouse has a certified kitchen for food prep from crops gleaned from the farm to either be donated to local food pantries or sold in the farm stand.
This is a full-time job that requires a commitment to farming and to the active community who support the farm. Interaction with the public as an educational farm is an important perspective to consider along with production farming. Oversight of the 5.23 acres that we lease includes an awareness of our farm animals, visitors to the farm and the general condition of the property. The Friends of Holly Hill Farm is a welcoming community.
Qualifications: High School Diploma, 3 years’ experience of employment on a farm. One manager must have a Food Safety Course certification. Enthusiasm and passion for the mission.
