Hope's Harvest RI Seeks Partnerships with Farms for Remainder of 2020!

Hope’s Harvest RI (https://hopesharvest.org/) mobilizes volunteers to rescue surplus fruits and vegetables from local farms for distribution to food pantries across the state. Since 2018, we have rescued over 190,000 lbs. of surplus fruits and veggies from 35+ farms in RI and southeastern MA.

With frosts in sight and CSAs wrapping up for the season, we can offer support in making sure no food is wasted. We are flexible with quick turnaround as your needs may change with the shifting weather, and can help clear your fields after your last CSA or market for the season. We are also capable of grading if you have storage crops that need sorting.

If you have surplus food on your farm, but don’t have time to donate it, Hope’s Harvest can help! We will:

  • Be available for contact with you by phone, email, or text, to schedule a convenient time to get product out of the field or pack house

  • Follow strict COVID-19 procedures including tracking, cleaning, and volunteer training

  • Come prepared with our own refrigerated truck, sterilized tools, harvest bins, and hand wash station

  • Recruit and train volunteers to harvest safely, making sure they show up ready to work. We manage and supervise volunteers at all times

  • Fully insure all on-farm volunteer activities with multiple levels of coverage

  • Make sure product gets distributed quickly and safely, with full traceability, to charitable organizations

  • Provide detailed harvest receipts for your records and tax purposes

Hope’s Harvest RI offers stipends for participation, payments for surplus product, and contracts to grow low-maintenance crops for gleaners to harvest. Farmer references available upon request.
