Immediate Workshop Coordinator Needed

Hiring ( immediately )“On Farm Workshop Coordinator” or “Event Planner”

We are hiring critical support staff for our on-the-ground programs training farmers, educating consumers, and helping to make local organic food available to all. The Northeast Organic Farmers Association of Rhode Island (NOFA RI) is looking for an immediate on the ground “Workshop Coordinator” or “Event Planner”. The person organizes and oversees the master schedule for in-person, hands-on workshops taking place throughout Rhode Island. The Coordinator contacts potential farm presenters, schedules the “On Farm Workshops,” and helps publicize the events.
Stipend $1,200 for organizing 8 On Farm Workshops (travel negotiable).
(Additional funding probable as additional workshops planned)

Job Responsibilities:
-Oversee the Workshop master schedule
-Works closely with the NOFA RI Board and others in finding presenters to fill 8 sessions.
-The Coordinator contacts past speakers for possible future involvement
-The Coordinator finds new prospects for forthcoming workshops
-Collects and organizes data and biographical information for each presenter
The information must be completed at least 4 weeks prior to event
-Manage, facilitate and collect workshop evaluation forms
-Coordinate publicity and notices of workshops
-Attend monthly committee meetings

Qualifications
-Experience reaching out to people and building relationships, ability to invite people to speak at workshops
-Connected to the farming or food community in Rhode Island and knowledge of potential speakers
-Proficient in basic computer applications: word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and email
-Experience with digital platforms and social media preferred
-Graphics experience preferred
-Experience working with volunteers
-Organization, attention to detail, and project management skills
-Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a timely manner
-Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
-Ability to fulfill commitment for scheduling and attending 8 “On Farm Workshops” in RI
-Valid Driver’s license
-Experience with outreach and organizing preferred
