Job #1 - Farm Assistant
We are seeking a hard working self starter to assist with all aspects of growing cut flowers for production. Basic work will entail seed sowing, bed preparation, planting and maintenance on a small scale. A great opportunity for professional growth and advancement!
Job Type: Part time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 hr.
Expected hours: 9 – 10 hr. per week
Start/Finish Date: Mid March through October
Duties and abilities include:
- Perform tasks related to small farm growing operation including seed sowing, bed preparation planting and maintenance.
- Help with harvesting conditioning and organizing flower buckets in walk-in cooler.
- Help organizing and clean work stations and supplies.
- Keep careful records.
- Have at least one year experience working in the farming, gardening or plant production industry.
- Able to comfortably lift 50 pounds repetitively and work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Be self motivated, hard working, brisk and enthusiastic with the ability to work well in a team.
- Play strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Having a familiarity with natural growing techniques and agricultural practices is a plus.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
- Able to commute to Warren RI 02885.
JOB #2 - Sales assistant
Job Type: Part time
Pay:** $15.00 - $17.00 hr.
Expected hours:** 9 – 10 hr. per week
Start/Finish Date:** Mid May through October
Wild Farm Studio grows and sells cut flowers in Warren, RI. We sell flowers weekly at our self-serve roadside stand, at market booths, local pop-ups and for small events. We are currently looking for a farm sales assistant to help assure that all aspects of weekly sales run as smoothly as possible, This individual will be the primary representative of in-person sales of our flowers, should be bright, cheerful and excel in customer service and salesmanship.
Duties and abilities include:
- Set up and breakdown the farm stand and maintain excellent product quality, visual appeal and ease of point of sales and throughout the hours of operation (i.e. temperature control, hydration).
- Learn cut stem varieties, growing standards and work with the Farm Director to select produce and quantities for the farm stand.
- Create, maintain and update weekly signage and stem variety labels.
- Update the POS system and maintain proper records of sales.
- Have at least 1 year of retail experience as a sales person. Floral design and display experience a plus.
- Have some flexibility in your schedule with the ability to work at least one weekend day per week.
- Being a supporter of sustainable, integrated and organic growing practices for cut flowers is a plus.
- Must be able to repeatedly bend and lift 50 lbs and able to work in all wether conditions.
- Able to commute Warren, RI 02885.
Compensation: Dependent on experience.
