Zephyr Farm in Cranston, RI is a 5+ acre veggie farm with a layer flock of 500 hens. We sell at farmers markets and through online platforms. I am seeking the following positions for 2021:
Jack/Jill of all trades
This position is what is says. I am looking for someone part time to do miscellaneous tasks around the farm including small building projects, maintenance on farm equipment, trucks, buildings etc., and fixing stuff. This is like a personal assistant to the farmer position. Must be able to see a problem and fix it with supplies on the farm. This person must have a “can do” attitude, enjoy a fast paced environment, and enjoy work in general. General farm work may be added to the position to create more hours if interested. Position could be good for someone newly retired and looking to get outdoors and put their knowledge to good use. $13-$15/hr depending on skills. Plus veggies and eggs.
Tractor operator
Looking for someone with at least 3 years experience to perform tractor work. Work would involve both a 25hp tractor and 70hp tractor. It may involve laying black plastic, spreading fertilizer, to transplanting with people riding on the back of the tractor. Must be comfortable with driving on the road as our farm is in 2 locations. Also must be comfortable driving small box trucks. $13-15/hr plus veggies and eggs. General farm work can be added to this position to make it full time if interested.
